Module 2: Pain Reduction - Application of Music for Acute and
Chronic IllnessPain reduction, acute and chronic illness, music and sound environment during pre-, peri- and post-op periods, silence, potentiating medication, anti-emetics, contraindications.
Module 3: Stress Relief - Application of Music for Emotional and
Psychological HealingStress reduction, delirium, anxiety, depression, relaxation, humor, emotional release, weight loss, PTSD, grief, hospice work, transitions, beginning and end of life.
Module 4: Music and Imagery
Guided imagery, listening sessions, evidence-based research, Kolcaba’s Comfort Theory, esthetic and environmental factors in healing, additional principles of music and healing, criteria for selecting music.
Comfort & Healing Measures provides educational workshops for healthcare professionals to integrate and apply music and comfort measures as a standard of care in clinical settings.

Birgit Weeks, RN, MSN, CCRN As a critical care nurse at Northwest Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle, WA, Birgit was first inspired to use music in the ICU with delirious patients. She now uses music and complimentary measures with patients and their families. Birgit also conducts research with Musica Humana of Denmark. Her vision is to bring music and holistic nursing practices into mainstream practice.
